Notes from Holly Did you know that King David, in his old age, had an orchestra of four thousand? WOW, that's hard to imagine! "…four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have pro-vided for that purpose." 1Chronicles 23:5 There were eight instruments: Harp, Lyre (stringed instruments), Flute, Pipe, Horn, Trumpet (wind instruments), Tambourine and the Cymbal (instruments that were beaten). Two types of cymbals are mentioned in Psalm 150:5 - "clash of cymbals" referring to larger cymbals that were played with two hands and "resounding cymbals" that were much smaller and attached to the thumb and middle finger. What a joyful sound our brothers and sisters of old enjoyed as they worshiped the Lord. If you play an instrument and would like to share your talent please me know or just bring it and join in during service. What if we had an orchestra of four thousand?
